This was my very first "officially" decorated cake. It was a project for my cake decorating class. There was room left for a name under the rainbow, but I was too tired to try it after making all those little stars.

My second cake - the first without a well-predefined plan. It's elegance is very understated, but we all have to start somewhere

This was my Wilton Class 1 graduation project. By the time I got to this point that evening, I was just tired of messing with it, but hey! I got the certificate suitable for framing. The next picture below is the same cake from the side. I started practicing one day on drop flowers and couldn't seem to quit. Everytime my icing bag would get almost empty, I'd fill it with another color. Made some really interesting colored flowers that I'll never be able to exactly duplicate.

This cake is a 6 inch cake made with batter left over from the 10 inch cake just above. I tried basket-weave on this cake. It's not too hard, but takes lots of practice. Before I finished I was wishing the cake was not quite so tall.

My best friend was having an open house to try and sell his house. I made cakes with his floor plan for his two-story house on them for refreshments. Here are two top views and one side view

This is a chocolate chocolate-chip cake with chocolate buttercream icing. This was my first attempt at doing fine string work and bead swags. The beads are made of fondant and were placed on the cake one at a time with tweezers.
